FREE Radio Communication Workshop Sunday February 10th

FREE Beginners workshop

This will be open to anyone interested in learning how to operate an amateur radio. The is not for just those with amateur radio licenses, it's open to the public. This is a great opportunity to get your hands on radio equipment and operate under the guidance of experienced radio operators. If you or someone you know is interested in getting their amateur radio license there will be information about Spring 2019's technician class at the work shop.

The event will be @ Police Science Institute/The Range Pistol Club

Sunday, February 10th
From: 2 PM to 4 PM

The workshop will have the following topics.

PowerPoint presentation: Purchasing your first radio. Staring @ 2:15 PM

Trying out multiple types of radios mobile (car), portable (independent), and hand held (walkie talkies)

Experienced operators available to answer questions regarding regarding purchasing, types, features, and use

Learning about GPS tracking equipment for off road events

Trouble shooting your own radios. We will have some on site diagnostic equipment to help with personal radios. So bring your radios we can program them too (I and a few of my experienced operator friends have programming cables and can program most radios.)

I will have the Sierra National Forest grant funded radio box and teach those wanting to know how to set it up.

Also, what would be a training class without
FREE Snacks, Drinks, and Raffle prizes for just for showing up.
One (1) raffle ticket per attendee, no age restriction, no FCC licencee required to win, Drawing will be at 4 PM. Do not need to be present to win.

If you would like to show up with your radio pre-programmed the radio frequencies we will be using for the event is:

147.150 MHz PL 141.3 positive off set (600 KHz)
146.745 MHz PL 123.0 negative off set (600 KHz)
147.500 MHz no PL no off set SIMPLEX
