CHANGE OF PLANS!!     CHANGE OF PLANS!!       CHANGE OF PLANS!!
We are unfortunately forced to move this run to a different location for two reasons.
1. We have been in contact with the USFS since Wednesday and to date they will not tell us if they are locking the gate by Saturday at the entrance to Shuteye peak. Because of the recent storm having a snow level of 6,500' and Shuteye being 8,000' it has snow on it. But the road manager for the Bass Lake Ranger District of the Sierra National Forest (Steve Coudry 559-877-2218 ext.3163) has not returned our repeated phone calls. The District office staff has told us on 3 separate occasions, maybe open, maybe closed! :hammerhead:

2. The high temp will top out in the low 40's. This is with no wind chill. This run is definitely on the "fun" side, not the "challenging" side and standing around bundled up waiting for a luke warm steak does not sound like "fun" for our special guests.  :cold: :snowflake: So even if the gate were to be open, we have run up against an early chill that would make this location miserable for many.

So we are keeping the same start time, 9AM, but we are all meeting in the Vons parking lot in Oakhurst. We will be going to Hite's Cove, an old Gold mining site (elev. 2,500') and exploring the old ruins, fishing, swimming, and panning if ya got a pan!   There is a nice beach right there on the south fork of the Merced River.

What if the family turned to Jesus
And stopped asking Oprah what to do
