Vehicle Inspection
« on: March 12, 2016, 04:07:25 PM »

In place of our 1st Saturday of the Month Run, we will have a Vehicle Inspection in Fresno on Saturday, April 2. We will have a world class Inspector, Marlin of Marlin Crawler (and others to assist), in attendance to help make sure your rig is ready for this year's wheeling season. There is no charge to have your rig reviewed and there may be time to get some simple work done on things that need doing. The details:

Place: The parking lot in front of CA Tiny House (Pat Mosley's business), 3337 W Sussex Way, Fresno. This is near Ashlan and 99.
When: April 2, 2016 starting at 9:00 AM until finished or mid afternoon, whichever comes first.

Note: Pat has graciously offered his parking lot and access to his restroom, but his shop is full. Bring a floor jack if you have one, some tools if you want to tinker with your rig and any parts or fluids you need for any maintenance you want to do. We can help (some) with this.

You'll receive a completed vehicle inspection report, listing what's good and what needs attention on your vehicle. A copy of the vehicle inspection report is attached so you can review it before hand. (You'll also get a chance to see who's done what to their rig this winter!)

Bring your lunch, something to sit and eat on, your ham radio, your RC vehicle, and spouse and kids if you want. This promises to be a fun day for families along with the vehicle inspection.

Some things we need:
1. It would be nice to have food along with our fellowship, so a person willing to arrange for a BBQ lunch would be our hero. This would entail arranging for (you could find friends to help you with any part of this, or do it yourself): getting the BBQs from Jacob; BBQing; buying dogs and/or burgers for which there will be a donation can with the Club picking up any shortfall; gathering the other implements needed, e.g., table(s) for serving (I have 2 tables), BBQ implements, condiments, paper plates, napkins, etc. We have some of this, but it has to be gathered and I'm sure there would be some help. We need someone with a servant's heart to coordinate lunch. If not, everyone will be on their own for lunch as stated above.

2. Some traffic cones.

3. 3 clip boards.

4. Floor jacks and jack stands. Not everyone has these so if you could bring yours it might be very handy.

5. Used oil container for those who want to change their oil, etc. Bring your own fluids if you want to do this and we can help get it done.

6. Any other things you perceive might be helpful for an inspection such as this. We haven't done this before this way so your ideas are welcome. Please contact me @ monyman14@gmail.com or 559-972-2200 cell if you have any of the above items or any questions.

This is a club event so your 4 wheeling friends are welcome, just like for a run or Club Meeting, but this is not for the general public. Please post up if you'll attend so we can plan for: time to allow to perform inspections; parking; food; etc. We look forward to seeing you there.

Aloha All

It's true.  CVC wants Mr. Rusty to go along with us as it gives us a good reason for carrying ridged tow straps rather then having them in our gear box for no appearent reason.

It is true ;D, but the hijack checkers are watching and they don't like thread hijacking. :o

This just in from Jeep land: besides a world class wizard of Toyota Technology Inspector in Marlin Crawler for the Vehicle Inspection, we will also have a Genuine Jeep Guru for all our Jeep owners, Ironman Mitch. Most of you know Mitch, but because he's a busy guy with very weird hours we sometimes don't see him for a while, sometimes months. However, he'll be there on April 2. He is very adept with Jeeps and we're delighted he'll be one of our Chief Inspectors. The only downside is that he has to leave at lunch time so if you have a jeep, get there early. Just sayin'.....

Things are progressing for our Vehicle Inspection coming up on April 2. Some updates:

I rounded up enough traffic cones for what we need so that is done. We're still looking for 3 clipboards.

I'd still like to have a food coordinator or someone who can help with some part of it. Thanks Dutchman for being willing to bring the hot dogs! Anyone else willing to coordinate or help? It won't happen without a volunteer or two.

Thanks again to Marlin and Mitch for volunteering as Chief Inspectors. You make our day.

We haven't heard from many of you whether or not you're planning to come, but it would be nice to know. Post up your plans!

It should be fun and we hope to see you. Be there and be safe. :)

Heads up for the Vehicle Inspection this Saturday! This will be similar to a free "40 point Inspection" you would get at your auto dealer (you've heard of those) except it is for your 4x4 performed by 4x4 experts. We'll even provide a list when you're done of what's good and what merits attention.

Besides fellowship, of course we'll stop for lunch (BYO) with even more time for fellowship. It should be a beautiful day in the low 80s so bring your short pants (we'll miss you Tokyo Taco), tshirt and sandals. I've heard we may even meet our newest club member, Hunter. :)

We're still looking for a food coordinator if you have a servant's heart. Some help has already arrived if you'd do the coordinating.

We also still need 3 clip boards. I know, I know, they're old school but they would be very handy.

We're looking forward to this. Be there and be safe.
