Forest Fire up above Huntington
« on: July 24, 2013, 11:32:34 AM »

Hi guys,

Johnny is in Coyote with friends from Sac currently. Just heard that there is a forest fire 6 miles NW of Huntington Lake which (as of report 3 hrs ago) had burned between 2000-3000 acres and was at zero containment. Anyhow, I know that he is pretty far away, but does anyone know the approx miles Coyote would be away from Huntington??

Pretty sure I don't need to worry, but was hoping someone could tell me that I have no need to. :)

Thanks all,

Mindy

It's quite a ways away, it is by Mammoth pool in the river basin but burning up hill. Not close enough to Coyote to be worried.

We were really smoked out this morning from it, and my kid's are having asthma peoblems from it. I hope it's better by next week or this might throw a dent in RHRU for sensitive people.

I think the fire is actually between big creek and Huntington. I would not worry. Mr. Dog is smart and resourceful. My son-in law is up there fighting it. Lots of plane and copter action. Our house is in the flight path. I haven't received an update since this morning.

Was listening to the NFS on my scanner tonight and heard that the fire was a mile from the dam and they were asking for more support. You suppose they meant Huntington dam?

It would be Huntington. We spoke with a waitress last night whose husband installed 12 phone lines at the command cente. I think they plan on fighting it for a while. I will post up when I get an update from Jason.

Hi all

I made it home yesterday. On Monday We had 2 storms hit us and dropped at least 2 inches of rain at Coyote lake and lot's of Thunder & Lightning. I hope this was the cause of all of the fires. We had lot's of aircraft activity on Monday and then even more on Tuesday they seemed to be looking over in the Dinkey Creek, Rock Creek Rd area.
We never saw any fire but when when we left yesterday the smoke was pretty thick.

Thanks for your concern and prayers.

Both of my brothers are on the Horseshoe hotshots crew.  They are up there right now.  They are waiting for assignment to determine if they will do night shift or day shift.  Please pray for their safety.
