Our New Grandbaby is sick
« on: June 11, 2012, 04:29:42 PM »

Hi Guys,

Just a few hours ago I posted up on the Praise Report Thread http://www.4x4him.com/Forum/index.php/topic,6706.0.html) about our new granddaughter being born.

Now, we need prayer. We should be hearing back any minute on baby's Bilirubin levels, which will indicate how bad her jaundice is. We are anticipating that she will be admitted, likely, to Fresno Children's.

FYI - Jaundice is a yellow discoloration of the skin and/or whites of the eyes that is often seen in newborn infants. The discoloration is caused by a yellow substance called bilirubin. Infants with high blood levels of bilirubin, called hyperbilirubinemia, develop the yellow color when bilirubin accumulates in the skin. Jaundice is not a disease but is a symptom of an elevated blood bilirubin level. Jaundice is not painful, but serious complications can occur if elevated bilirubin levels are not treated in a timely manner. Jaundice is a marker used to identify those infants who may be at risk for developing severe hyperbilirubinemia. Severe hyperbilirubinemia can be toxic to the nervous system of infants, potentially even causing brain damage.

Baby has been asleep all day. Not normal. Yes, newborns sleep alot, but not this much. Once they are hard to arouse, it is likely that the jaundice is severe and that they need to go to hospital. This is where we are at. Julianna went through the same thing and was in Fresno Children's Hospital for 3 days and got better. Though encouraged by this, this is still scary and difficult.

Johnny has to work. I have to stay here (home) with Julianna (their firstborn), Miguel (Brittani, our daughter's fiance) has a brand new job so cannot get anymore time off of work, sooo Brittani will likely have to be at Children's by herself. :(
I stayed with her all day and night last time.

Please pray for healing, peace and comfort.

Thanks all,

John and Mindy

Dear John & Mindy,
It's been a while since I logged into the club. Been moving, resting etc.
First of all I want you to know that my prayers are with your Grandbaby.
I do want to visit the forum more often now that I'm back online. I truly miss you folks and your e-mails.
I know many of you reading this do not know me or my connection with 4x4 HIM.com. Maybe some of the "öriginal" members will provide the link.
I am so thankfull that you folks are honoring Randy with your annual ROCK HOPPER ROUNDUP.  He would be so proud!
I do wish I could be out there but .... health at this time will not allow it. My thoughts and prayers are always with you all.  May God bless you dear friends.

UPDATE Re: Our New Grandbaby is sick
« Reply #13 on: June 13, 2012, 11:15:50 AM »

Hi all,

Thanks so very much to those of you who are praying!! We just love that we can call on our sisters and brothers in time of need.

Miguel and Brittani took Jocelyn to be checked out at Valley Chidlren's but she was not admitted. We were a little surprised as her bilirubin levels were at 14 and Julianna (their firstborn) was admitted when levels were only at 12. ?? Whatever the case, we are giving baby indirect sunlight. She is eating well which is a very good thing. She is still quite yellow so we are keeping a very close eye.

Please keep praying.

All else is going well. Brittani and her girls are living with us right now until escrow closes on house in Fowler.
