30 Hour Famine donations - World Vision
« on: February 25, 2009, 11:21:06 AM »

Hey everybody Cruiserfj45 and myself are participating in the 30 Hour Famine with the Youth Group at our church up in Squaw valley. The youth staff collects sponsorships as well as all of the youth. World vision has put on the 30 Hour Famine for quite a few years now, and i believe our church has done it for the past 7-8 years. It's alot of fun and it really raises awareness of how bad World hunger is. The number has dropped quite a bit in the past years. When I was a youth grouper my freshman year the number was 32,000 children under the age of 18 PER DAY dieing of hunger or hunger related disease. The number this year is down to 26,000 PER DAY. that's alot better, but still not good. World vision has good turn around rates, they have always put more than 80% of funds collected straight into the effort, some years being closer to 90% with small percentages for administration and fundraising costs.

Jacob and myself both have donation accounts set up on their websites so people can make donations online.

Jacob's link is
http://www.30hourfamine.org/portal/onlinegiving/donate/100167174-003

And Mine is
http://www.30hourfamine.org/portal/onlinegiving/donate/100167174-004

It is really easy, just follow the link and when the site pops up fill out all the information on the right side of the screen and click submit.

We appreciate everyone's help. This is kind of last minute. We are doing the famine this weekend. If you can't make a donation right now. We encourage you to make one at a later time if you can. it all goes to the same cause, and World vision's efforts are really working. Thank you all and God Bless.

Andrew

It's a great cause and what they didn't tell you is if they raise enough money the youth get to honey and feather Jacob,
and then the next goal is they get to shave Andrew's head and I think even Jacob's too if i'm not mistaken... Guys you can correct me if im wrong!

trust me it's worth it to see Jacob get Honey and Feathered. Isn't it???? :HardLaugh:

$3600 = shave my head
$4500 = shave my head & honey and feather Jacob
$5500 = shave my head, honey and feather Jacob & honey and feather me
$7000 = shave my head, honey & feather me & Jacob, and all of the youth staff at the church gets their hair dyed any color the kids want (this includes the associate pastor and the head pastor's wife, they are both youth staff)

We will gladly take pictures and post them if any of these goals are achieved especially with help from all of you  ;D

Donations still accepted.  We raised $3800 and shaved Andrews head.  Picts still to come.  This is enough money to feed, and cloths 13 children for 1 year as well as provide medical treatment and school.  It also helps the family as there is one less child for the family to try to feed.  Will you please help to sponsor a child.  $30 a month feeds and cares for a child.
