DOM is seamless so it doesn't have an inherent weak spot (the weld seam).  Also, the dimensional is held to higher tolerances typically.  Sometimes it's overkill.  I used 2" x .120 DOM for my rock sliders on Leslie's Wagoneer.  It was $238.00 just for materials.  They are going to be hard to bend though.  That rig weighs in at 6k pounds.

so when I do sliders I'll probably use DOM but for my front fender protection/bumper stuff wll I be okay with just using 1 1/2" x .250 tubing? it's alot cheaper at $35 for a 20' length and if it's strong enough for just bumping into rocks and what not I'd rather save money....

With a smaller diameter tube and thicker wall you should make up your strength there. I guess weight isn't an issue for you  :hmmm:

I like DOM for cages n stuff.But for bumpers and sliders HREW tube is just as good and about half the cost per stick  :foolish:
