Wheeling Topics / Re: What camp shower and toilet are you using?
« on: October 28, 2015, 10:35:11 AM »
The "Lugabble Loo" is horrifying to use for anyone other than direct family, and even then it's really awful.
I can't imagine the group you're with every using this bucket that someone else just used - but then maybe you're all closer friends than I would be.  ; >)

We took our "Porta-Potti" for just my wife and I to use on the Rubicon, and then turned out we didn't even need it.  Plenty of toilets in route on the Rubicon!

Aloha Pastorwug

Congrats on passing the test & getting Ur call sign ! !
Now U just need to get on the air.   👍
Yup, working on that, thankfully there is a local Prepper guy that knows all this Ham stuff and is going to get me setup with a radio.
I'll be on soon.   ;D

Again, the FT-8800 is a good choice. I like mine and most of the local ARES/RACES operators I know have more than one. If your goal is to just use 2 meter, then I would lean more towards the FT-2900. It is only 2 meter, plenty of memory, puts out 75 watts and the cost is comparable to a high end CB rig, about $150 or less on most websites. If your goal is more than 2 meter and have 70 cm (440) dual band monitor and cross band repeating, then go with the FT-8800

I do plan on staying on 2m the most but I like the fact that the face can be removed and that it is expandable for the future.  I appreciate your help.

Thanks for the added info!

Love this info because I just passed my Technician exam last Saturday and now looking for a good 2m radio.  Pretty sure I'll get the 8800 because my local Prepper guys strongly suggest it and they have a Ham guru that will set it ll up for me (big help) here in Santa Maria.

Great pics - we were just there at the end of Sept - I did a wedding at Shaver Lake after wheeling.
Here's my wife and our rig on the Dusy.

Hello folks, we are new to this family of 4X4 folks and want to introduce ourselves some.
We live in Santa Maria where we have been Pastoring our church for the past 23 years.
We previously lived in Hanford (Central Valley) where we Pastored in three different churches.
We have owned our JKUR Jeep since 2011 and have two payments left!!!
Our love for the off-road was really born from owning Jeeps in the past.  It will be nice to join with other off-roaders who are Christians instead of drunks.

Blessings to all of you and thanks for the add to the Forum.
