From This to This

The day started very well.  The little 81 Toyota was delivered to Tomsryd shop early Saturday morning.

Randy was in strong spirits as the metamorphous was to began.

The bed was quickly removed leaving the crew to start planning the flat bed.

I think Kyle was dreaming of this being his truck.

The brains were gathering info from the shop computer and analyzing details.

These guys were working on the leaf packs.  A stack of new tires was used as a work bench.

As the old stuff was stripped off, the work really began.

With the welders working towards the back the suspension crew worked up front.

These guys look like they could pump iron all day.  Lance and Brad do there thing.

Lance is set up for welding.  He even brings his own portable welder.

As Tom Kelly downs another Diet Pepsi, These 3 start working on the front axle.

As you can see, everyone had something to do.

This guy really knows axles.  I think Tom Kelly is getting educated.

I'm not quit sure what these guys are doing but I bet it turns out nice.

It is now time for the beefier power steering install.

As you can see, Tires are already on in the rear and a flat bed frame started.

As the night got late, everyone was in ahh.  Checking the progress made so far.

The cross over steering is ready for inspection.

Sunday after noon,  RockHopper is taking shape.

Figuring out how to re-install the parking brake turns out to be a problem.

Neatly going back a trimming the sheet metal, rounding the edges and making clean cuts.

I don't know what Tommy was doing on His knees, I can only guess.

You can see how the sheet metal was trimmed just below the grill.

Hooking up the tie-rods and drag link. Checking the distance.

  Ok, lets let RockHopper down.

After a brief test drive all is good.

WOW!  What a nice rear end.

Here is RockHopper before heading home.
